After signing Pete Alonso, the Orioles still need 1 or 2 starting pitchers. Here are some suggestions, if you’re listening, Mike Elias:
Free Agents:
Framber Valdez: Power lefty, he’s a workhorse, postseason experience.
Ranger Suarez: Another lefty, not as hard throwing as Valdez, but can give you innings, a low ERA, and wins.
Michael King: Injured a bit last year, but in his first full season of starting in 2024, had an ERA under 3.00, and 200 plus strikeouts.
Trade:
Freddy Peralta: 26 is his walk year, don’t want to make the same mistake we made last time we made a trade with the Brewers and not sign him to an extension. A power pitcher.
Sandy Alcantara: Former Cy Young winner. Had Tommy John surgery 2 years ago, so should be completely recovered, if past patients are any indication.
Edward Cabrera: Strikes out a lot of batters, but can sometimes lose control.
And in the reaml of fantasy:
Tarik Skubal. The best pitcher in baseball. Give up the farm IF AND ONLY IF you can extend him.
