Don’t Be So Blatant, Mitch

If a juror said that they had already made up their mind about a case, and cavorted with the defense would be dismissed, and probably would be in legal trouble.

Am I The Only One….

Who thinks that the meanings of Thanksgiving and Christmas have been lost due to commercialism?

Wednesday, November 27, 2019

To You Republican Idiots

There is no “War On Christmas” or “War On Thanksgiving.”  It is not against the law to say Merry Christmas.or Happy Thanksgiving.  Why you people think that is beyond me!  However, your wars on Women, Muslims, Minorities, and Immigrants are quite real.

You Deserved To Be Booed…

If you are a hypocrite, touting a program to combat cyber bullying, while your husband takes to Twitter to insult anybody and everybody, and wearing a coat that says “I don’t care” when you visit an immigration center where kids are being held in cells.

The Most Improbable Championship

The Washington Nationals are World Series Champions after an incredible run:

19-31 after 50 games

Down 3-1 in the Wild Card game and facing one of the game’s top relievers

Down 3-1 in game 5 of the Division  Series and hitting back to back homers off of a probable Hall Of Famer

Winning the first 2 games of the World Series in Houston, losing all 3 games in DC, winning game 6 in Houston, then coming back from a 2-0 deficit in the late inning in game 7 to win the Series.

This was a total team effort, one for the ages!

People In The US Government…

Take an oath to defend the Constitution, not an oath of loyalty to party or president.  The Republicans seem to have forgotten that.

I Don’t Care....

What religion you are, if you love someone of the same sex, come from a different country, or are of a different political view.  If you are a decent person who treats people decently, then I would love for you to be my friend!

One For The Ages

This year’s World Series between the Washington Nationals and the Houston Astros has the potential to be one of the best.  With Gerrit Cole and Justin Verlander pitching for the Astros, and Max Scherzer and Stephen Strasburg hurling the ball for the Nats, runs will be at a premium.  My prediction:  whoever wins will take it in 7 games, with the winner being the one who makes the most of their chances.

Totally Disgusting!

Contrary to what some extreme Christians believe, God does not kill people or make natural disasters happen  because they do not vote Republican and are against Trump.

When I Was A Kid….

We actually had face-to-face conversations with our friends and other people, not texting or chatting online, and we went out and did things with those friends, instead of sitting around for hours on hours playing computer games.  Also, our spelling was coherent, not the horrible mess you see today’s kids produce.  Don’t get me wrong, technology is great, but these days, kids, especially teenagers have absolutely NO idea on how to interact with actual humans, not just writing on a screen!

Enough Is Enough!

Is 31 deaths in 13 hours due to the shootings in El Paso and Dayton enough to say that something needs to be done about gun control?  No civilian should own an assault weapon, which is an instrument of war. Congress needs to end its summer break and get back to work ASAP on common sense gun legistlation.  Mental health, video games, and lack of prayer in school are getting to be excuses for those politicians who are being held hostage by the NRA.  Also, there needs to be a crackdown on white nationalist groups that use the internet to recruit, and there needs to be laws making domestic terrorism a crime.  And this is wishful thinking, but Trump needs to shut up and quit fanning the flames with his racist talk!

The Road To The World Series Goes Through Houston…

With yesterday’s trade acquisition of Zack Grienke, who joins Justin Verlander and Gerrit Cole in the Major’s best starting rotation, and hitters like George Springer, Carlos Correa and Yuli Gurriel, Could we see the Astros’ second title in the past 3 years?  The Yankees and Dodgers stood pat at the trade deadline, so Houston’s biggest potential rivals need to be on toes once October starts!

Then it probably IS a racist!  Insinuating that 4 sitting members of Congress are not American (3 were born in the US, 1 is a naturalized citizen)  is totally beneath the office of the President. But since when has the Orange Asshole ever been normal?

The Orioles Were Supposed To Be Bad...

But this is getting downright scary!  The pitching staff is blowing 6 run leads, giving up homers in a frightening rate, and looking horrible.  Hopefully we aren't looking at another 14 year losing streak.  But for some reason, I'm still a fan!

These Forced Birther Bills

Being enacted in states are nothing more then republican attempts to enslave women, and make them nothing more then human incubators.  Forcing a rape victim who got pregnant as a result of the crime  to carry the baby is just like raping her a second time. Women are not property!

Love Should Not Hurt

If you are in an abusive relationship, GET OUT!!!  Especially if there are children involved.  You and your kids’ lives are worth far more then being with someone that hurts you. There are people out  there who care and can help!  And if you have a friend or family member that is in that situation, make it your business and help.

Breathing A Sigh Of Relief

I had my drs. appointment on Friday.  Good news!  Yes, I have Arthritis in my back and  knee, but not Lupus, even though a blood test showed antibodies for it.  I get a rash from the Sun, and that could possibly be a version of it. We’ll see.

Sins Of The Parents?

What do you think should happen to the students who benefited from the college admissions scandal?  Should they lose their spots in school and have to start from scratch, or stay in?   Should they be treated as innocent victims, or be forced to pay the price?  And what of the ones who’ve already graduated?  Should they have their degrees pulled?  Because of this, students who legitimately worked hard and made the grades were shoved aside in favor of cheaters!

Negative People……

Can Drag you down. They suck the joy out of your life and make things very difficult.  Stay away from them!

More Of My Fan Fiction-From Inspector Morse

As you would expect, it was a damp, gloomy day the day that Morse was laid to rest. The only ones to attend initially were Superintendent Strange , Sgt. Lewis and Dr. Hobson. Both Lewis and Strange spent a few minutes telling stories of their years of working with Morse, of how good of a copper he was, and how they would miss his attitude and quirks. "We will never see another like him," Strange mused. " It was an honor to serve under him, he was always challenging me to be the best cop I could be," Lewis said, holding back tears. After the priest said a final prayer, the mortal remains of Endeavour Morse were consigned back to the dust of the Earth.

Leaving the cemetery and heading for his car, Strange hears someone call out his name. "Jim., over here." Looking to his left, he sees a face he hadn't laid eyes upon in over 5 years. "Joan, it's good to see you again. It's been way too long, and I wish it was under better circumstances. " "Yes, I know," Joan Thursday mused. "My Dad, and now Morse. We're the only ones left from the old days. I thought that Morse would outlive all of us

"Let me introduce you to Sgt. Robbie Lewis, Morse's bagman, and Dr. Laura Hobson, Our pathologist," Strange tells Joan. "Robbie, Laura, this is Joan Thursday, daughter of the late former DCI Fred Thursday. Morse and I served under him during the late 1960's to 1970s at Cowley and later Castle Gate."

"So you're the famous Joan Thursday, " Lewis smiled while shaking her hand. "Morse talked about you a lot, especially later when his health started to go downhill. He considered letting you get away the biggest mistake of his life. The Thursday family definitely made a mark on how his life turned out. He told me that Fred Thursday helped shape him into the detective he became, and you, Joan, Morse ow," Joan Thursday mused. "My Dad, and now Morse. We're the only ones left from the old days. I thought that Morse would outlive all of us always joked to me, were the reason he never married. He really fancied you."

"Well, it wasn't for lack of trying on both of our parts," Joan laughed. "We were young , and I don't think either of us knew what we wanted. One minute we debated whether to go with our feelings, and the next, we were just friends. I hadn't seen Morse in person since my Father's funeral 5 years ago, but we kept In touch with the occasional letter or phone call. The last time I spoke to him on the phone was maybe 6 months ago. He didn't sound very well at the time, but he was in a pretty good mood, and the last thing he said to me was that he kicked himself all the time for the way things went for us, and if he could have went back in time and changed things, he would have in a heartbeat. I'm really going to miss him. Under that rough exterior was a good man, and if he would have just opened his heart and been himself, Morse could have made some lucky lady a wonderful husband, and would have been a great father."

Getting out of the rain , the group retreated into a nearby pub to dry off and get a drink. "I can think of no better place to finish our goodbye to Morse," Strange smiled. "Me too, Sir, " Lewis replied in agreement. "A toast to Morse," Joan beamed. "To Morse," they all said, clinking their glasses together.

Sometimes It’s Not The Lie That Gets You In Trouble…..

It’s the cover up.  Honesty is the best policy.

Can’t Get Any Worse….

Than the season my Baltimore Orioles had in 2018. A franchise record 115 losses and all around bad pitching and hitting.  With Manny Machado and Adam Jones gone via free agency, and Chris Davis coming off a historically bad season, runs will be at a premium.  And with pitching in the hands of the likes of Dylan Bundy, Andrew Cashner, and Alex Cobb, the opposition will not have any troubles.  Hopefully, this rebuilding effort wont take as long as the previous one from 1998-2011, where the O’s had 14 straight losing seasons.  A fan can hope…

Let Them Eat Cake

Consider being furloughed a vacation without using your vacation days?

Have yard sales, ask your landlord if you can  do maintainence work instead of paying rent?

I don’t know why furloughed federal workers are going to foodbanks?

You can get your groceries on credit?

It’s worth the sacrifice?

People in this administration have no idea of what it means to be poor, and have to live from  paycheck to paycheck.  Now that the shutdown is over, hopefully these people can get their back pay ASAP!

Introducing Your Congressional Wounded Warriors Caucus

These lawmakers have literally left part of themselves behind on the battlefield. Perhaps they can get together and come up with solutions to the VA’s problems and more programs for our injured soldiers.

Here are your charter members:

Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth lost both of her when her helicopter was shot down over Iraq

Texas Congressman Dan Crenshaw lost an eye to an IED in Afghanistan

Florida Congressman Brian Mast lost both of his legs to an IED in Afghanistan

Indiana Congressman Jim Baird lost an arm in Vietnam

And of course, as a Posthumous selection for membership: John McCain.
