Getting The Band Back Together

At last year’s trade deadline, my Baltimore Orioles traded their all star closer Jorge Lopez to the Twins for a couple of players, including this year’s all star set up man Yennier Cano.  After a stop in Miami, Lopez is back with the Orioles, having been claimed off of waivers.  He’s had a shaky season, with an ERA of over 6.00, but hopefully a change of scenery will do some good.  Lopez had a scoreless inning today, and looked pretty good.  With the O’s other all star closer, Felix Bautista out with an elbow injury and perhaps out for next season if he needs Tommy John surgery, this is a pretty good move if Lopez has a good rest of the season and the team decided to tender him a contract for next year. It’s always good to have a backup plan.
