I’ve told you all about how bad it was in school, how I was bullied all the time because of my weight.  But what I didn’t tell you was that it got so bad at times that I wanted  to end it all.  The pain and humiliation was so bad I just wanted to kill myself.  I felt like no one, not my teachers, not the school administration, not even my parents cared about me, and that everyone would be better off if I ceased to exist.  Thankfully, I never went through with my plans.  If you’re in the same situation, don;t give up.  Keep looking until you find someone that will listen to you and take you seriously.

One Fat Summer by Robert Lipsyte. Change my name for Bobby Marks’ and it does a good job echoing what I went through when I was a kid. The bullying because of my weight, the criticism from some of my own family, having few friends: sounds all too familiar. The only difference was that I still have not been able to lose weight even after over 40 years. I knew that there was probably going to be a lot of blowback in my mind when I read this, and I was right. I never want to read this book again, It’s the closest I’ve come to having a nervous breakdown!

I wanted to go to college after high school, but I was not in a good place when I graduated because of all the bullying done to me.  I’m taking classes at our local community college. If I Were An Officer In Any Of The US Armed Forces..

I’d resign my commission effective January 20.  Trump not only wants to use the military to possibly take over Canada, Greenland, and the Panama Canal,  but also wants to use them against peaceful protesters.  I would want nothing to do with any of those actions.  They would be unlawful orders, but  I don’t think that would stop him.

I would have, during the summer between 7th and 8th grade, the 2 worse years of my life, put my foot down and did everything in my power to convince my parents let me move up here with my sister in West Virginia and go to school here. A change of scenery and dealing with kids who didn’t know me and had no reason to bully me would have saved me a lot of grief and depression.
