My Faith Has Been Hijacked

By extremists who seem to have never read the words of Jesus. Empathy is not a sin. Jesus himself said that whatever you do to the least you do to me. Jesus associated with people who his opponents considered undesirable. His disciples were fishermen, common men, and a tax collector. One of his closest followers, the one who was the first to hear of the resurrection was a prostitute. God has infinite mercy. The extremists only think that applies to people who look like them, mainly straight whites. They consider immigrants to be beneath them, and claim to be pro-life, but will not support the poor and those in need, and consider the killing of innocent Palestinian children justified because they are of the “wrong” religion. I thank God that my church has not become like that. We give out food to those who need it, give school supplies to kids who need it, and go out and help with disaster relief in other areas of the state.  That it what a church should do, and what Jesus told us to do!
