A Tribute To Friendship

It’s a wonder that Nicie and I have been best friends the past 6 years, with our political differences.  Sure, we’ve had our fair share of arguments, but we’ve never let them come between us!

Shades Of 1989: Why Not?

After 14 straight losing seasons, my Baltimore Orioles are on the verge of breaking that streak and perhaps even winning the AL East!  This team remind me of the ‘89 team, who came out of nowhere to compete for the division title until the final weekend of the season.  Both teams had come off of horrible seasons (Remember 0-21 to start the 88 season?)  and had teams full of youngsters and pitching staffs that were cobbled together.  Hopefully, by the end of the season,  Buck Showalter and Company will     more resemble the Davey Johnson led  ‘96 and ‘97 O’s teams that made the playoffs and advanced to the AL Championship Series, hopefully minus the weirdness (Remember Jeffrey Maier in 96 and a wild pitch that wasn’t in 97?)

Whoops!

At the house I grew up in, the doorknob on the bathroom for the first couple of years we lived there had a bad habit of locking when you closed the door and turned the knob.  One Spring Break, when I was there  by myself, I got up one morning went to the bathroom, and closed the door.  Before I could stop turning the knob, click.  Soooo, I was locked in there, wearing nothing but my underwear till my Mom came home on her lunch break! Needless to say, we got my Dad to put a new knob on.

A Few Questions about Gun Control

In the aftermath of the Colorado shootings:

1: What non military person needs 6,000 rounds, even if he’s a hunter?

2:  What nonmilitary person needs an AK-47 or AR-15?

3: Why should someone be able to buy guns and ammo online without some sort of background check?

4: Should a non military/ non police person be able to legally buy body armor and bullet proof vests?

5: How many more lives would have been lost if as the gun nuts would have had it , there would have been more armed people in the theater?

6: Is there anything we can do about this without interfering with the 2nd Amendment?

The Weekend From Hell

Last weekend was definitely not one to write home about.  On Friday night, a bad storm came through, knocking the power and water out.  Since the temps were getting close to 100, not having AC really sucked, and I think I must have lost 20 pounds in sweat!  And not having light at night except from flashlights  wasn’t very convenient either, since I like to stay up late.  As if that wasn’t enough, on Saturday, I went outside, stepped on a bad part of the porch, and fell through it. Through it,not off it.  Right now, my leg is one big bruise.  And not having a shower for 2 days, Yuck!  Luckily, the power came back on Sunday night, and all is well.

Quite An Experience

Last Monday and Tuesday, I was invited to Revival at my Aunt’s Church.  The first night was OK, but the second was crazy. The speaker did good until he went all Benny Hinn  and started laying hands on people and healing them.  While walking through our aisle, he tapped me on the shoulder, and I thought I was going to freak out and run off. I know God can heal people, but I personally believe he can do it without a Middle Man.
