An Uninvited Guest

Last Saturday, I washed clothes, folded them up, put them in my basket and sat them on top of my washing machine;. Sunday, I went to put them away, and found that a mouse had done his business on them.  I went to dump them out on my bed, looking to see if any damage was done, and said mouse hopped out of the basket and went on his merry way.  How crazy!

Some Tricky Questions

How would you handle the following situations?

Situation 1:  Your brother/sister marries your high school bully, who tortured

you for 4 years and nearly drove you to suicide.  Your brother

or sister later needs a kidney transplant to survive. Could you l

                    let bygones be bygones?

Situation 2:  Your parents marriage ends in divorce because one of them

had and affair. The cheating parent later marries the person they

cheated with, and has a child with them. your half sibling later

needs a bone marrow transplant. Would  you volunteer, knowing

                   what your parent had done?

So would you be forgiving or let your anger rule your feelings?

No Matter What Side Of The Political Spectrum You Reside On..

If you’re an American, you should be proud of how the legal system worked today.  Evidence was introduced, witnesses examined and cross-examined, and in the end the jury did their duty and returned a verdict. No matter if you’re a Trump fan or not, this was a good day for justice: it worked as it was designed to!

Unequal Treatment?

Why is Colin Kaepernick being blackballed by  the NFL for being against police brutality against black people, yet Harrison Butker  gets a pass for giving a speech bashing abortion, LGBTQ people, birth control, IVF, working women, and putting in an anti-semetic jab? He has a certain teammate whose highly successful girlfriend might have an objection to his rantings.

Going To Extreme Measures

Over the years, as you all may know, I’ve been fighting my weight.  One of the options that I’ve looked into is weight loss surgery. You’d think that I’d disregard that, seeing that I went through maybe 15  surgeries before I was 10 years old.  But, nothing should be off the table.  I’ve read about all sorts of problems that people having the surgery went through, and It’s not worth it, in my opinion, at least for me. So, back to the drawing board, diets have not helped so any ideas are welcome!

Back In The Old Days

When I first started getting on the internet, one of the first things I did was get Yahoo Messenger.  It was quite fun.  I met several friends on there, including the wonderful Nicie and the late Kat, and several others.  Yahoo had chatrooms, and we kinda took over a Christian Chat one and spent many an hour there having a good time. But unfortunately, due to child predators being able to make their own chatrooms, Yahoo shut chatrooms down, then messenger. The only thing I don’t miss is the African scammers, though they seem to have migrated with us to Facebook.

Her Name Was Alice

And I loved her so much, well as much as an 11 year old could.  We were close friends, hung out a lot, and had a good time together,  I thought that something could come out of it and we would be together forever. But, she and her sister, who was also a friend of mine, turned against me and joined  the scum who tortured me in school.  Her betrayal felt like my heart had been ripped out of my chest.  The last time I saw her was in a store in 1989, a while after I and presumably her graduated from high school. She didn’t see me, and I debated whether to go up to her and kiss her or slap her. I just let it go. I hope that some day, we can talk again, I wonder what she’s doing now?

Can They Do It Again?

Last season, the Baltimore Orioles won 101 games and the AL East.  The core of  the team remains. Adley Ruschman,  Rookie of the Year Gunnar Henderson, All Star Austin Hayes,  exciting outfielders Cedric Mullins and Anthony Santander make up the hitters.  In the offseason, the O’s added former Cy Young award winner Corbin Burnes to anchor the rotation along (when he returns from injury) Kyle Bradish, John Means, Dead Kremer, and Grayson Rodriguez.  Because all-world closer Felix Rodriguez will miss this season after undergoing elbow surgery, the team signed future hall of fame closer Craig Kimbrel to team with super setup man Yennier Cano to slam the door shut at the end of games.  Thing at Camden Yards look pretty good for this season!  Plus  with the Yankees losing Cy Young winner Gerrit Cole for at least 2 months with an injury should help the O’s make some space in the division.

What I’m Looking For

I’m looking for a woman that will love me despite all my quirks and what I’ve been through in the past, and will stick by me no matter what.  Since I can’t have kids, I would have no problem with a single mother. I’d take care of the kid like he/she were my own blood.  So if anyone is interested….

The Sins Of The Mother

What do you think of the conviction of Jennifer Crumbley,, the mother of Michigan high school shooter on 4 counts of involuntary manslaughter for her not doing anything to stop her son’s rampage, knowing that he had been saying that he could possibly go postal?  Both of his parents were told by the school that he he been drawing homicidal pictures, begged for mental health counseling, and looked up buying ammo online with his school computer, which she texted back to him, don’t get caught the next time.  Parents need to be more aware of what’s going on in their children’s heads, and when it looks like trouble could be coming, the should get their kid help before something horrible happens, and not just brush it off, as it looks like she did.  Will this hold up on appeal?  We will find out in a month or so….

A Wacky Holiday

In 1985, my Mom won a cruise  to the Bahamas from her job.  Because it was just a trip for 2, I had to stay home.  I wanted to stay home with my sister Lori, but she was a bit of a wild child, and Mom didn’t trust her. Option number 2: stay with my sister Julie in West Virginia.  The only problem with that was that around Thanksgiving time, Moorefield was hit by a flood and just about wiped off the face of the map.  “it’s only for a week, it’s not going to hurt you, check out some books from the library and take your homework with you if you have any,” Mom said.  So, that was a very boring Christmas vacation for me, as you can only read so much and watch so much TV, because that’s about the only things I could do.  OK, now enough about me (for now), so on to the fun stuff…

To get to the cruise ship, Mom and Dad had to fly from Dulles Airport to Miami.  Dad found out really fast that he was afraid of flying.  Mom said, the longer the flight went, the greener Dad got, and the longer it went, the more a guy in the next aisle drank.

So they made it to Miami, got on the cruise ship, and had a good time, but when they returned to Miami, Dad said “you can fly if you want, but I’m not.”  So they looked for a car, but the only thing they could find was a U-Haul truck, so they drove it back hone to Fairfax to get their car and then drive up to Moorefield to pick me up.  A large truck hauling just them and 2 pieces of luggage.

Now for a funny postscript:

When we got back home, I was totally exhausted, so I went to bed. When I was a kid, I slept pretty soundly, and when I woke up, I had a habit of losing all sense of time.  So I get up sometime in the night, thinking its maybe 1 or 2 in the morning to go to the bathroom, I noticed that the bathroom door was shut, but being half asleep, I did nothing but open the door and…

I get hit by a blast of stem, and see a figure wrapped in a towel ,and immediately begin screaming my  lungs out.  What has happened was that my sister Lori had put a piece of wood into out wood stove that was a bit to big for the stove or at a bad angle and knocked the stovepipe lose a bit. Dad had fixed, it got ashes and soot all over himself, and took a showe to clean up.  So quite a fun time for all hehe.

The Rich Get Richer

With the signing of Shohel Ohtani, the best player on the face of the Earth to a crazy 700 million dollar contract, the Los Angeles Dodgers are now  the favorites to win the World Series next season.  Even if he’s not going to be able to pitch next year due to surgery on his elbow, Ohtani can be counted on to give you 40 plus homers and plenty of steals.  Combine him with Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Max Muncy and others,  the Dodgers will be hard to beat. This coming from an Orioles fan!   Speaking of which, Baltimore’s front office needs to be ready to hand out some serious coinage to Adley Ruschman, Gunnar Henderson, and Kyle Bradish in 5 or 6 years when they reach free agency.

From 100 Losses 2 Years Ago..

To 100 wins and a division title this year, the Baltimore Orioles are a team to be reckoned with.  These guys seem to me to be a lot better then the 1997 team that lead the division wire to wire, and they were a veteran team!  Hopefully, this postseason will be a long and productive one.

And Everyone Wonders Why I’m The Way I Am

My childhood was not a very fun one. There were 3 events that happened that almost pushed me to the edge:

1: In 6th grade, my 2 closest friends, who I had been friends with for about 3 years, turned against me and joined the evil scum that tortured me because of my weight.  This was the one that hurt me the most, because I was totally in love with one of them, and was certain that I would have a future with her, we were 11 or12 at the time, so things were starting to happen  as with all kids.

2: in 1983, I was forced to throw my food away and leave a restaurant when some idiot came up, pointed at me started cussing and yelled “ that thing doesn’t need to be eating, look how big he is.”  This one  had me tempted at looking for a knife to slit my wrists.

3. This is a combo:  In 1984, a friend of my Mom’s said “My son weighed about 500 pounds when he was your age. he lost weight by going weeks and weeks without eating anything, why can’t you do that?”

2 years later, this same friend came to visit, bringing her daughter in law (wife of the son mentioned above)  I had never seen this daughter in law before, and the first thing she said to me, wasn’t “Hi, How are ya? “  or “Go to Hell” but “You’re fat and ugly like my husband was when he was your age”

Again, I ask Is it any wonder that I’m so shy?

Getting The Band Back Together

At last year’s trade deadline, my Baltimore Orioles traded their all star closer Jorge Lopez to the Twins for a couple of players, including this year’s all star set up man Yennier Cano.  After a stop in Miami, Lopez is back with the Orioles, having been claimed off of waivers.  He’s had a shaky season, with an ERA of over 6.00, but hopefully a change of scenery will do some good.  Lopez had a scoreless inning today, and looked pretty good.  With the O’s other all star closer, Felix Bautista out with an elbow injury and perhaps out for next season if he needs Tommy John surgery, this is a pretty good move if Lopez has a good rest of the season and the team decided to tender him a contract for next year. It’s always good to have a backup plan.

Note to Yennier Cano, Shintaro Fujinami, Cionel Perez, D.L. Hall, Danny Coloumbe, and others:

With all world closer Felix Bautista out for an unknown amount of time (possibly till 2025 if he needs Tommy John Surgery), you guys need to work your butts off trying to clos out games if the Orioles are going to have a good postseason!

If The Orioles Win The Division By One Game…

It will be due to the amazing game Cedric Mullins had against Seattle on Sunday.  In the 9th he prevented a game tying homer (the next batter hit one, so it saved the game) and in the 10th he hit the game winning   2 run        homer.  This has been a season to remember for the O’s!

No More Gimmicks

I’m not a fan of the runner on 2nd base to start an extra inning.  It’s too easy to score. All you have to do is bunt the runner over with no outs, then you have lots of ways to score the runner from 3rd with 2 outs to go.  If that’s successful, then the  home team has to score at least 2 in the bottom of the inning to win.  It gets a bit too predictable.  Wins need to be earned.  Give me a good 18 inning game anytime!

A Painful Memory

One night when I was 9 or 10, Dad got called out on emergency job to fix something, and for some reason, Mom went with him.  That meant that my sister Lori was left in charge of me. I don’t like to speak ill of the dead, but Lori was never the responsible type.  I fell asleep on the couch, and when I woke up, I went looking for Lori. Hearing music coming from her room, I went there and opened the door. Boom! I feel something hit me on the head, and next thing you know, I find myself laid out on the floor, and blood coming out of my head, and Lori screaming at the top of her lungs. What had happened was that she had (after over 40 years, I still have no idea how she did it) balanced a stereo speaker on top of her door, and when I opened it, down it came on my head. I ended up with a bunch of stitches in my head, and one heck of a headache!
