Senseless

Yesterday, I received some very shocking news.  The Brother In Law of a friend of mine, whom  I will not name in order to protect their privacy, committed suicide.  I don’t know how anyone could take their own life. The guy had a good job, a good marriage, with a baby on the way.  Suicide is such a selfish act.  Not only is it a permanent solution for a temporary problem, think of all the other people it affects. His parents are without a son, his wife (my friend’s sister) will have to raise a child that will never know her father, and all of his friends have lost someone.  Just gets you thinking and shaking your head…… If you know someone who is  thinking of killing themselves, GET THEM HELP!!!!!!!

Making Peace With My Past

I’ve decided to end my over 20 year war with the people who picked on me in school.  Yeah, it hurt me, but after a nice talk with Miss Nicie,  I’ve come to realize that it was just kids being kids, and it’s time to get over it and get on with my life!  Dwelling on the past is not good for one’s mental health.

Neat Fact

Whilst Surfing The web, I found out that the Christian Singer Toby Mac went to the same intermediate school that I did. Luther Jackson Intermediate School in Fairfax, VA.  He’s The same age as my sister Lori, so they were probably there at the same time. Hope his experience there was better then mine was!

Chat Etiquette

I have been an internet chatter going on 10 years, and have observed some actions that I find totally irritating. Here are some hints to make sure the person you chat with doesn’t put you on ignore:

1: In yahoo chat, buzzing is rude.

2: If someone takes longer then 2 seconds to reply to you, don’t start saying are you there.

3: Don’t Ask ASL: That’s What Profiles are for.

4: You don’t need to know what I look like, so don’t ask for a pic or to look at my cam. If I want to show you them, I will some later time, should I deem you worthy.

5: You don’t need to know about my job, my parents, or the rest of my family. Again, if I think you’re worthy of that info, I’ll give it to you.

6: It is none of your damn  business why I’m 37 and still single and have no kids.

7: No, I don’t want to talk to you on the phone if you’re from India/Africa/ Etc.

8: No, I don’t want to fly to India/Africa/Pakistan.   I’m afraid of flying. I know God will protect me, but I’m not taking any chances.

9: NO I WILL NOT SPONSER YOU TO COME TO THE US

And last but not least:

A MILLION TIMES, I DON’T HAVE THE MONEY TO SEND TO EVERY SO CALLED POOR AFRICAN/INDIAN/PAKISTANI THAT ASKS, DAMMIT!!!!!!

Mistaken Identity Funny

Last night, My Dad and I went to Church, and we had to stop and get gas.  Dad got out and went to the pump and did his business, and this guy came up to him and said “Hi, you remember me? I havnt seen you since we were in the Regional Jail Smoking pot.” Dad just nodded his head and said yeah, and when he got back in the car, he just about laughed his ass off!

The Biggest Regret In My Life

Is that I can’t have kids of my own, because of a birth defect that I don’t  want to get into much detail.   I could have an operation to get it corrected, but because of all the surgeries I had when I was a kid, I’m a bit on the gun shy side.  Maybe when/if I find someone, I might change my mind.

The Hypocrisy of the GOP

The Hypocrisy Of The GOP

The Republican party says that they’re the party of family values and defenders Of marriage, but the way some of them act, you have to be wondering.  Here’s some of the hypocrites:

South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford: Admitted a couple of days ago to having an affair with a lady in Argentina, with his trips funded by taxpayers.

Nevada Senator John Ensign: Also had an affair

Senator John Mccain: Left his first wife because she was disfigured due to injuries sustained in a car accident

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich:  Left his first wife while she was dying of cancer.

Former Senator Larry Craig of Idaho and Former Fla. Congressman Mark Foley: Got caught in gay sex scandals

And let’s not forget Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, who has a daughter who’s a teenage mom.

So For you who say that gay people should not marry, and take a holier then thou attitude, you have no right to say you have the moral high ground. Before you start condemning other people, get your own acts straight!

Kinda miffed right now!   I was working on a model ship kit this week.  On the model, the instructions called for the use of a match to melt the pins that hold the main gun mounts to holes in the deck I got my Dad to help me with that, but he slipped and melted the whole deck!  Soooo I had to order another kit.

240px-SidneyCrosby   Whined his way all the way to the Cup. So Commissioner Bettman, how do you feel now that your plan to get Crosby And Malkin the Cup by having the refs give all the calls to the Pens?  During the Caps/Pens Series, I have never seen so many penalties not called against the Pens. At least Alex Ovechkin Won his Second Straight MVP award.

KIds Going To College at 12 or13

Is totally crazy!  They will never know what it's like to be a kid, because they'll be doing school work all the time. Kids at that age should be having fun with friends, getting into trouble, and doing all the other dumb things kids can do.  By the time they're 18, they'll be burned out, because their brains are not ready to take in all the heavy stuff they're studying, and I bet most of them have a feeling that they're missing something, because they didn't have a proper childhood.  If I was a parent, there is no way in Hell I'd do that to my kid.  Let them take AP classes if they want to, but let em wait till they've lived a few years before you send them off to college!

Interesting Historical Fact

As a history buff, I’m impressed with this one:

Even though he was born in 1790, did you know that former President John Tyler still has 2 living Grandchildren?  Not great grandchildren, grandchildren.  Tyler was the Father of 15 kids by 2 wives.  His second wife was 30 years younger then him.  These Grandchildren are the sons of his youngest son, who was born in 1853, and they were born in the 1920’s.  Another odd fact, Tyler’s youngest child died in 1947, 130 years after his  oldest was born.

No Virginia, It Wasn’t A Hoax

I was totally disgusted by a speech made a few days ago by North Carolina Congresswoman Virginia Foxx made during debate in the House about the Matthew Sheppard hate crime act.  Matthew, if you recall, was the Wyoming gay man who a few years ago was lured into a car by 2 guys who said they were gay, beat up, then tied up to a fence and left to die.  Mrs. Foxx claimed that Matthew was murdered not because he was gay, but because he was being robbed.  Kicker is, one of the men arrested said that they did it because he was gay.  Good God, if you were just robbing someone, why would you beat the hell outta them and tie them up to a fence, leaving them for dead?  Just goes to show you that the Republican party is nothing but a gang of homophobic, racist bigots.  Republicans, and some people who go to my church also say that this act will cause preachers who speak out against hot button issues like gays and abortion, even though THERE IS A CLAUSE IN THIS BILL SAYING THAT THIS ACT CANNOT BE USED TO INFRINGS ON SOMEONE’S FIRST AMMENDMENT RIGHTS.  Guess they only read the parts that they want to read.

The Choking Dog Can Clear Its Throat For A Bit!

After having had it done to them so many times, Monday night my Washington Capitals defeated the New York Rangers 2-1, coming back from a 3 games to 1 deficit in the series. Maybe the Caps luck is finally turning! Next up in round 2 is the series everyone (Except me) wanted, as Washington takes on Pittsburgh. It'll be a series pitting the NHL"S best player, the Caps Alex Ovechkin, against another top one, the Pens Sidney Crosby. This should be fun! What worries me though, is the Caps terrible luck against the Pens in the playoffs. They've won one series, but have blown 3-1 leads in 2 others. In the 2008-2009 regular season, the Caps won the season series 3-0 with a shootout loss.

Wednesday, April 15, 2009

Rockin' The Red!

After winning their second straight Southeast Division title,  my Washington Capitals begin their first round playoff series against the New York Rangers tonight.  The Caps won the season series against the Rangers 3-1, including  a 5-4 overtime win in which the Caps came back from a 4-0 deficit.  Should Washington get by the Broadway Blueshirts,  their season record against the other Eastern Conference playoff teams:

Boston Bruins: Caps won series 3-1 including each team winning an overtime game.

New Jersey Devils:  Caps won 2-0 with a Devils shootout win

Carolina Hurricanes-Split season series 3-3

Philadelphia Flyers: Split season series 2-2

Montreal Canadiens- Caps won Season series 2-1

Pittsburgh Penguins-Caps won season series 3-0-and 1 shootout loss.

Should the Caps Make it through the Eastern Conference , and make it to the Stanley Cup Finals, here’s how the Caps did against Western Conference playoff teams

Detroit Red Wings-Caps won only meeting this season

Chicago Blackhawks  Ditto

Columbus Blue Jackets- Col. won both games, getting shut outs from super  rookie goalie

                                     Steve Mason in both contests.

St. Louis Blues- Caps won only meeting

Calgary Flames- Cal. won only meeting

Vancouver Canucks-Caps one only meeting

San Jose Sharks (Won President’s Trophy for having NHL’ s best record)  SJ won only meeting.

What the Caps have to do to succeed :

Goaltending: Jose Theodore  has never lost a first round playoff series.  He needs to step up

          Should we advance.

Avoid OT (Especially multi OT games)  The Caps have not won an overtime playoff game

since Joe Juneau’s goal in OT of  game 6 of the 1998 Eastern Conf. finals  sent the Caps to the finals.  They have lost 5 in a row since.

Avoid the state of Pennsylvania: Bowing 3-1 series leads again the Pens twice, Losing to the Flyers in 7 games last year, need I say more?

This should be interesting!

Protecting Our Kids

After watching the Caylee Anthony, Haileigh Cummings, and Sandra Cantu Cases, something really has to be done to protect our

kids from rapists and murderers. It’s getting out of hand.  Here’s what I think needs to be done.

1: The Sex Offender laws really need to be revamped.  I’m sure that there are Police and prosecutors who’d rather spend their resources on finding a  missing, murdered or raped kid then going after some 16 year old who got a blow job from their 15 year old girlfriend, or some 13 year old who sends boob shots taken with a cam phone to their friends.  Prioiritze!

2:  Increase Penalties!  I know it doesn’t sound fair to hold someone in jail after their sentence is up, but we all know that sex offenders can’t be cured, so they need to stay locked up for good. Seems like released offenders do the most damage.  For those who murder, give them an automatic death penalty.

Off To A Good Start!

My Baltimore Orioles got off to a good start to the 2009 season, beating the New York Yankees 10-5.  The game was a good all around team victory.  Starter Jeremy  Guthrie  allowed 3 runs in 6 effective innings, Newcomer Cesar Izturis hit a 2 run homer, and catcher Gregg Zaun  had a hit in his return to Baltimore.  The other bright spot was that aside from Chris Ray giving up a 2 run homer after missing last season due to elbow surgery, the Bullpen did it’s job, unlike most times last season.  After a day off tomorrow, the O’s will unveil their new Japanese import, Pitcher Koji Uehara, who is scheduled to start Wednesday’s Game.  Hopefully the string of losing seasons will be stopped at 11.
