A Very Expensive Whoops!

I just finished reading about how a police station in New Hamshire Accidentially threw away $31,000 in captured drug money. It is now at the bottom of tons of trash in a landfill. I'd hate to be whoever did that right now!

Today The Goat's Horns Go To....

Washington Wizards star Gilbert Arenas, who missed 2 free throws in the waining seconds of Overtime in Friday's playoff game against Cleveland. The missed free throws prevented the Wizards from expanding their lead from 1 to 3 points, and the Cavaliers won the game on a buzzer beater, clinching the series. Arenas had a superb year, and as a Wizards fan, I hope he can get over it! Some athletes can't get over failures.

Rampant Paranoia

OK People, CALM DOWN! Just because your kid has a Myspace account doesn't mean that they're automatically going to be kidnapped by a Child Molester, and if youre kid's school has Soda Machines it doesn't automaticaly mean that they're going to get fat! My God, that seems like the only 2 subjects on the news anymore. CHILL OUT!

Damn I'm Clumsy

I have got to be the most clumsiest person in the world! Last week, in the same day, I was sitting in a chair, moved, and all the sudden I hear this creaking sound, the chair splinters into a million little pieces, and I end up on the floor! A couple of hours later, I go to put my window down, the window goes off track, and lands right across my wrists! So.... right now, my feet and wrists are a mass of bruises! Sheeesh!

Finally..A Resoultion

Well, My Mom's lawyer called today to say that we lost our case against American Woodmark dealing with Mom's injury. I am sooooooo pissed! It is not fair that my Mom has to go through the rest of her life with the use of only 1 hand, and no one is going to be punished for it!

I Don't Care Anymore!

From this moment forward, I'm not gonna stress over not having anyone! Maybe I'm trying too hard. Somtimes when you really want something, you end up making yourself look like a fool!

Here in Moorefield, the price of gas is $2.83 a gallon. This is totally nuts! The oil companies have us at their mercy!

Helping His Own Cause

Today's Weird Sports Stat:

Cincinatti Reds pitcher Bronson Arroyo has made 2 starts so far this season, is 2-0, and has even hit 2 homers, both off of the same pitcher, Glendon Rusch of the Chicago Cubs. Could Arroyo be the reincarnation of another former Boston Red Sox pitcher that could hit a bit, by the name of Babe Ruth?

An Observation

It seems like in chat, spelling goes completely down the toilet! I've been chatting for over 5 years, and I've seen some words butchered pretty good. Must be because people think that since chat is such an informal setting, you can be lax on matters like spelling. I had a fewEnglish teachers that would probably have heart attacks if they ever came into cc1! :P

Yet Another Tale From My Childhood

When I was maybe 12 or 13, the Dr's decided to send me to the University Of Virginia Hospital to find out why I had stopped growing. Since it was in the middle of the worst year of my life, 8th grade, I dedided to take the week off and go there, even though I hate hospitals. What a mistake! First off, to get blood, they hooked me up to a needle for 7 hours striaght, with my arm restrained. When I was done, my arm was so stiff it felt like it was gonna crack when I flexed it out, and they had taken so much blood, I felt like someone had poured a couple of 6 packs into me! To make matters worse, the Dr. was a total asshole, giving me the shit about my weight! Damn, if I wanted that, I woulda stayed home and took my torture from school!

Hometown Heroes!

The George Mason Patriots are headed to the NCAA Basketball Final Four! This little school, located in my hometown of Fairfax, VA, has knocked off the last 2 National Champions (North Carolina, Connecticut) , and now have a date with former National Runner up (Florida). How much longer can Cinderella keep going?

This Week's Spoiled Brat Award

Goes to Alfonso Soriano of the Washington Nationals. Because he doesn't want to move from second base to the outfield, Soriano refused to play in a Spring Training game last night. Come on dude! Earn your $10 million salary. Just be glad you have the talents to play Baseball!

Haircut Time!

Update on The Previous Post

My new Sunday School class went well! It was nice hanging with people in my own age group (even though it was only 3 of us) and I felt pretty comfortable, and did a lotta talking! I am going to do it again next Sunday!

A big break

Yesterday, I may have had a break in solving my shyness. Our Church has started a new Sunday School class for people in my age group, and I'm gonna try it out! Right now, I'm in one with older people, including my Dad, and I just don't feel like I'm able to talk about my concerns with them. It's nice hanging out with people who are in your age group, because I have a lot more in common with them then the older ones. Here's hoping I get something out of it!

Spring Training

Spring Training is underway, a sure sign that Spring is almost here! I'm looking forward to seeing how my Baltimore Orioles do this year. They've added a few people this winter. Pitchers Kris Benson and Latroy Hawkins, Catcher Ramon Hernandez, 1st Baseman Kevin Millar, and Outfielder Cory Patterson were acquired in the offseason. The 2 questions left unasnwered are can 2nd Basemen Brian Roberts repeat his spectacular 2005 season, while recovering from a horrible elbow injury, and can Shortstop Miguel Tejada can regain the respect of the organization after his trade demands over the Winter.

Totally Disgusting!

I was watching a clip on CNN today about how Fred Phelps, the "Preacher" from Kansas, who is out to exterminate all gays, and his bunch are protesting at the funerals of military personnel killed in Iraq. These So Called Christians say that soldiers are being killed because the US allows gay people to live their lifestyle. I tell you, I was about ready to puch out the TV! Those idiots give all of us Christians a bad name. That takes some nerve interrupting a Funeral. Let the soldiers families and friends mourn in peace, for God's sake!

Presidents' Day

As a student of History, and expecially dealing with the Presidents, here are some random opininions of some of the Presidents, in no particular order.

Washington: He got the US off to a good start, had to make things up as he went.
J. Adams: How do you live up to your predecsssor, a Living Legend?
J.Q. Adams: Son of a Pres., won a election under dubious circumstances. Sound Familiar?
G.W. Bush: There is not enough words in the Human Language or enough space online for me
to voice the contempt I have for this idiot.
Clinton: Despite his faults, the man got things done!
G.H.W. Bush: I guess dumbness does run in the family!
Grant: One of our greatest generals, one of our worst Presidents.
Carter: Too much of a nice guy, should have been tougher.
Reagan: I think he was senile long before he left office!
Wilson: Who says Democrats can't win a war?
F.D. Roosevelt: He saved the U.S. more than a few times
Hoover: Like the Vacuum, he sucked!
Eisenhower: The anti-Grant.
Buchanan: Call him Nero, he did nothing while the Union fell apart.
Lincoln: Saved the country, but at a price.
Harding: Even Republicans fool around on their wives!
Taft: He's OK in my book, we fat guys have to stick together!
Pierce, Fillmore: Space fillers.
A. Johnson: The Clinton of his time: Southern Dem. marked for destruction by a hostile congress.
Hayes: What Dubya's presidency would be like if the Dems were in control of congress.
Kennedy: Too much of a playboy.
L.B. Johnson: Could have been a good one if not for Vietnam
Nixon: You were a crook, you idiot!
Jefferson: A genius
Madison: The little guy kept us from becoming British Colonies Again
T. Roosevelt: Even though he was a Rep., I'd vote for him. Today's Reps wouldnt like him since
he wanted to save the environment.
Coolidge: Gets points for being shy and quiet like me.
Jackson: Too much of a hothead
And that's just a few of em!

Whoops!

Note to self:

Next time you're invited into a voice conference with some of your Christian friends, Please turn off your Winamp if You're Listening to Damian on YCOR Radio!

Last night, I was listening to Damian Stryker, one of my fellow CORers, on our radio station. This dude is very insightful, and well researched on his topics. Unfortuanatly, his language could use a tune up, as every other word he says is the "F" word. Anyway, I was invited into a voice conference with a few of my christian friends while Damian was deep into his topic, I forgot to turn Winamp off, and needless to say, some of my friends were impressed, a lot of em left the conference.

The Not So Superbowl

Last night's Superbowl was the most boring one I've ever seen! The action came in spurts, the Officials blew way to many calls, and even the commercials were no good! Actually I think
Seattle would have had a good chance to win if not for a few plays that were blatantly blown by the officials! This was not one to write home about.

Redemption

Well, after the fiasco that was my Presidency of the COR, I am back in a leadership position. 2 weeks ago, I was elected to the Board Of Commissioners. That is the group that makes the rules and policy of the group. I now know that I really wasn't ready for the presidency, but having 3 months sitting back as a "private" citizen, I've learned a lot. It takes a lot to run any group or business! Maybe next year...

Be Careful What You Wish For....

I bet Bush is kicking himself right about now for advocating Democracy in the Middle East. Iran has a President who wants to nuke us, and the Palestinian governement is now being run by a terrorist organization. Nice people, huh?

20 Years

I can remember what I was doing 20 years ago, the day the Challenger blew up. I was in DC with the Boy Scouts, visiting the Capitol. We stopped into the House chamber, and Tip O'neill was making a speech about the Astronauts that were lost. The US Space Program has lost 17 Men and Women in almost 50 years. I don't know if it's worth going into space, but as long as humans have that need to explore, we will keep on going into orbit!

Obsession

I think that maybe I'm too obsessed with losing weight, finding a Girlfriend, and making friends. I know I should be happy with myself, and maybe if I concentrated on that, I'll relax, be more open, and everything else will fall into place!

A Chance Squandared

A few years ago, there was a girl that went to my Church that I was really interested in. I sooo much wanted to talk to her, get to know her, and ask her out, but I just froze whenever I got up. Finally, the Sunday I finally got up the nerve to go for it, she moved away. I guess if you snooze, you lose!

Payback!

Today, my Washington Redskins defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 17-10 in the first round of the NFL playoffs, avenging an earlier loss to the Bucs. It was the ugliest game I've ever watched. The Skins totaled only 124 yards of offence, setting a record low for a winning playoff team. It was truely a defensive effort. Next week Washington travels to Seattle to Face the Seahawks, top team in the NFC. In week 4, the Skins beat the Seahawks 20-17 in OT.

Tragedy In My Home State

It has been a very rough couple of days here in the State of West Virginia. I don't know what is more tragic, the death of those miners, or the miscommunication that allowed their families to think that 12 of the 13 survived. However, the opposite was true. At least we can be thankful that one of them survived, and is improving in the hospital!

Happy New Year!!

What I got for Christmas

I made out pretty good for Christmas! Here's what I got:

$100

Battlestar Galactica Season 1 on DVD

6 models

Socks

A book

A picture of Baltimore's Camden Yards Ballpark

Lots of Candy

And last but not least, a nice pair of matched cuts and bruises on my elbows and knees from slipping on ice on the porch and taking a flier across the porch!

This is outrageous!

I am totally appalled, but not surprised by the news coming out that the President has authorized wiretaps of private citizens, without the approval of the courts! Have we been so frozen in terror that we are allowing the government to take away our right to privacy?

"Camping Out"

Today, I had to treat the first 6 hours of my day like I was camping out. The Electric Company had to turn the power off to my end of town to perform maintainance. So that meant no TV, computer, microwave, heat except for a kerosene heater, and not much to do but read. Kinda makes you think that maybe we depend too much on electrical devices....

Redskins scalp t he Cowboys

Today, my Washington Redskins totally defeated the hated Dallas Cowboys, 35-7. For the first time in 1o years, the 'Skins swept the season series. Next week, Washington hosts the NY Giants, hoping to avenge a 36-0 loss earlier in the season.

A Movie Coming Out Next Year That I Want To See

There's one movie coming out next year that I want to see: Ghost Rider. This movie is based on one of my favorite Comic Book Heroes! It stars Nicholas Cage as Johnny Blaze, motorcycle stuntman by day, flaming demonic agent of vengeance by night. I've seen a few clips of it, and it looks like it could be a great movie! It comes out in July.

GRRRR Part 2

I just got finished talking with a friend of mine telling em for the millionth time how his inlaws are bullies, and his wife will do nothing to back him up. This is getting quite boring! If you're not gonna do anythng about it, don't come bitching to me!

GRRRR Part 1

This weekend, I have been very frustrated. The phone lines around here are worthless. They have a hole in them somewhere, and when they get damp, like from the snow melting this weekend, they get all staticky, and you can't hear anything on the phone, or get online. We call the phone company and they come out and fix it (or so they say) but it still comes back. I wish I could lose weight fast enough so we could get DSL!

Christmas Shopping

Today I went to Maryland to do my Christmas shopping. I bought some books for my parents, and I'm gonna take some of their old tapes and make CDs of them. I'm not much of a shopper anymore, I dunno how women do it!

The Stupidest Stupid Crook

Today, While watching the news, I saw a story about the stupidest crook I've ever seen! This lady in Georgia hired a hitman to kill a family and steal what she thought was a block of Cocaine to sell to finance her modelling career. 2 problems though: The "hitman" was an udnercover cop, and the stuff wasn't a block of Cocaine at all, but a block of Cheddar Cheese! Dang!

My View On The Courts

After reading and watching all the hoopla about the openings on the Supreme Court, I have one thing to say:

The Law is not a Republican, Democratic, Christian, or Athiest thing! It applies to all people. Judges on all levels should leave their Political and Religious views at the Door when working. The Constitution of the US should be their guide, not the Bible, even though I'm a Christian.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my readers!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you all had a nice day! Ours was great. It was just a nice quiet day at home with the parents. I am sooo glad of myself, I didn't pig out like I usually do, so the diet is intact!

Hunting Season

Here in West Va., today was the first day of Deer season. It sounded like a war zone outside! Non-stop shooting, trucks going up and down the road, and just all around racket. My poor dogs are scared stiff, they don't like loud noises. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the 2nd amendment. Guys, you need silencers!

Sunday, November 20, 2005

This Is So Whack!

It's not even Thanksgiving yet, and already, they're playing Christmas music in the stores around here! That is totally crazy! It seems that We're starting to forget the signifigance of these holidays, and businsesses are exploting this.

Can't This Guy Just Shut Up?

Well Boys and Girls, Pat Robertson has spouted off again! The man who advocated the assasination of the President of Venezuela had now declared that God will no longer protect a town in Pennsylvania because members of the School Board who advocated the teaching of Intellegent Design in school were defeated for reelection. Robertson, Jerry Fallwell, and their cronies give Chrisianity a bad name, and I hearby declare that even though I'm a Christian, I don't think like they do!

My Christmas Wish List

I know that it's a bit early for Christmas shopping, but here's some things I'd like to get:

This year's Proof Set from the US Mint
An Ipod Shuffle
Any Ship or Aircraft model kit
Minutes for my Cell Phone
Books
And that old standby, Money! :P

Victory!

My Beloved Democratic Party scored 2 big wins tonight. In my birthplace of Virginia, Lt. Gov. Tim Kaine Was elected Governor, and in New Jersey, Senator John Corzine was elected Governor. Hopefully, this is a portent of things to come in next year's Congressional elections!

Total Discomfort

Yesterday, I had my 6 month appointment with my dentist. There was a new hygenist there, and he got to clean my teeth. OUCH! The guy was rough! My mouth bleed all day, and my teeth were a bit sore, but strangely enough, he got the job done.

A Challenge

After having another fight with my Mom today about my weight, we came up with a deal. If I can lose 20 pounds by the end of the year, she would for over the $75 a month to get DSL installed here. I'm gonna work hard on it, because I'd love to be able to have DSL, so that I could broadcast live on COR radio. I love a challenge!

World Series Preview

Saturday, the World Series begins, with the Houston Astros facing the Chicago White Sox. This should be a pretty good series. Can the Houston pitching, lead by Roger Clemens, Andy Pettitte, Roy Oswalt, and Brad Lidge slow down Paul Konerko, Scott Podsednik, Aaron Rowand, Carl Everett, A.J. Pierzynski, and Co? Can the White Sox pitching, lead by Mark Buerhle, Jon Garland and Jose Contreras slow down Lance Berkman, Craig Biggio, Jeff Bagwell, and the rest of the Astros lineup? I think this Series will go 7, with whoever has the best pitching being the one left standing!

More Home Remodeling

The past few days, we've been putting in a new floor in our kitchen. Previously, the floor was done in white linoleum, but Mom wanted to put a darker color down, because she hated having to sweep 3 or 4 times a day. We also got a new kitchen stove, since our old one was going bad. Well, that will have been every room in the house. Keep it up, we'll have a whole new one! :P

So Much For My Presidency

Yesterday, I had to resign as President of the COR . I did so because a member had called for a recall, because he didn't think the bizarre election results were in the best interest of the group. I didn't want this stuff to distract from the Group's works, do I decided to step down. I'm gonna sit back for a while and enjoy life as a private member, since I've been an elected official in one form or another since the beginning. But believe me, Next year, I will run for pres again.

Rain

For the past 2 days, it has been raining. That's a very good thing! We havn't had any rain here for the past couple of months, and it was beginning to look like the place was gonna dry up and blow away! The trees and grass are already looking a lot better. I usually don't like rain, but I'll make an exception for this.

Anticipation

Well, it's been a bizarre week in the COR The Presidential election started last Wednesday. The candidates were Myself and Damian Stryker. On Monday, Damian announced that he had to drop out of the race. That should have made me President by default, since there were no other candidates, but our Appellate Bench took it under advisement. This moring, they made their ruling. I'm President!

Another Close One!

Yesterday, my Washington Redskins escaped with a 20-17 overtime win over the Seattle Seahawks. I just about lost my dinner when Mark Brunell threw an interception in Redskins' territory with 1 minute remaining, but Seahawks' kicker Josh Brown missed a 47 yard field goal attempt with no time left in regulation. However, Brunell redeemed himself by leading the Skins' downfield on the first possesion of OT, leading to Nick Novak's 39 yard game winning FG. Washington is 3-0, with all 3 victories being by a total of 6 points. Now on to Denver for next Sunday's meeting with the Broncos!

Shyness

I might have posted about this before, but since it would take me all night to look back on my archives to look, let me tell you I'm shy. It makes me feel soooooo uncomfortable being around people, even at church. Most people think I'm anti social, but I'm not! Let me ask you this: if you had been picked on, called names, and generally humiliated every day for 12 years, wouldn't you want to keep your distance from people? Shyness has cost me a lot: Friends, love and lots of other things. I'm working on it, but I'm afraid the damage may be irreversable. I try to talk to people and be nice, but I just freeze up.

What a Day

Today has been a rough day. One of our dogs died. Little Bit was probably the best behaved of our dogs, and he was a good friend. We knew his heart problem would catch up with him, but it's still not easy.

Netscape 8

A couple of days ago, I downloaded the new Netscape 8 web browser. I really like it! It has the best features of both Internet Explorer and Firefox. For Firefox fans, there's tabbed browsing, and all the greatness of Firefox. But what I really like is that you can switch Browser engines between Firefox and IE, and that makes Windows update work with it. Also, there is a button that you can push and go to your web based email (Yahoo, AOL, Gmail, Hotmail, and the like) without having to look through your bookmarks. Also, there are buttons to get your Local and National weather and news. This browser is definately worth trying out!

What I want to do

I'd really love to combine my 2 favorite hobbies, coin collecting and model building into something to make money. What I'd love to do is start my own coin/hobby shop. Problem is, I don't think there are many model builders or coin collectors here where I live, but hey , a man can dream!

Oh No Not Again!

Looks like Hurricane Rita is gonna hit Texas in the next day or so. This is terrible! At least they seem to be more prepared then with Katrina. Here's hoping that there's not much damage!

Mom Reading

Mom Sitting On The Porch Reading.

Ahh The Sweet Taste Of Victory!

Last night, my Washington Redskins scored 13 points in the last 3:46 of the game to beat the hated Dallas Cowboys 14-13! This was the Skins' first win against the Cowboys in 3 years, and the first in Texas since 1995. Even though Washington is 2-0 on the season, they have scored only 2 touchdowns, but their defense has allowed only 20 points in the first 2 games. Oh well, a win is a win!

Boycott

For all you readers thinking of remodeling your kitchen, I am asking you not to buy kitchen Cabinets from American Woodmark. I'm calling for this boycott because that is the company that my Mom was working at when she got hurt. They had no guards on the machines, and several other people have been hurt there since for lack of safety equipment. This company puts profits before people, and they should be punished for that!

Model Building

Another one of my various hobbies is building model ships and planes. I've been doing it for over 20 years, but only in the past couple of years have I gotten good at it:p My current project is a model of the WWII aircraft carrier USS Ennterprise. I'll post of pic of it when I get done!

This is Totally Wrong!

It just boils me hearing about how the owners of that nursing home in Louisiana let 40 or their residents just drown when the hurricane hit! The scumbags waved of help from someone who said they could evacuate everyone from the home. Can you imagine how those people felt as the water kept getting higher and higher? If it was me, I'd hang those owners from the tallest tree!

And The People Of Oklahoma Voted For This Dummy?

A question asked by Senator Tom Cobourne (R-Oklahoma) to John Roberts during today's Supreme Court Conformation:

"Judge Roberts, would you agree that the opposite of Death is Life?"

Tom, you are a former Dr.! Didn't you learn the answer to that in Med School?

4 Years

I can't believe that it's been 4 years since that day that turned the whole country upside down. I can remember what I was doing that beautiful morning of Sept. 11, 2001. I Slept in a bit late that day, then got up to help my Mom clean house. We always watch the news on CNN in the moring, so when I turned it on, about 10 mins or so after the first plane hit the WTC, I was totally in shock! At first, I thought maybe that it had been an accident, but when the 2nd plane hit, I knew that something was wrong. The attacks have affected just about every aspect of life in the US now. We're involved in a "war on terrorism" that will probably never end, Bush has got us into a war in Iraq that was started due to false information and deception on the Bush administation, and the Government is passing laws that are restricting our basic rights (The Patriot Act). The thing that really kills me is that Republicans are accusing anyone who is against the war in Iraq to be for the Terrorists. Anyone here who knows who Max Cleland is? He was a Demacratic Senator from Georgia who was defeated for reelection in 2002, because his opponent accused him of being unpatriotic because he was against the war. How the fuck can you call a man who lost both his legs and an arm after being hit by a grenade while serving in Vietnam, another dubious war. I have no respect for anyone who uses the deaths of 3,000 people for political gain, regardless of party. We Americans are tough and determined and we will preservere!

More COR News

Well, I'm running for president of the COR in next month's election. I've ran 3 times before and had my ass thourougly kicked all 3 times, but I preservere!

A Coin With A Story

This is a 1923 Peace Dollar with a hole in it where someone made a necklace out of it. My Dad found this in a sewer when he worked for Fairfax Co., VA, and carried it in his wallet for 10 or 15 years. He gave it to me when I started collecting coins when I was 9 or 10.

A Reassesment

After watching the horror that the hurricane victims are going through, I have decided not to complain about everything bad that happens to me anymore. What I go through every day is nothing compared to what the people down in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama are going through!

So Long Sid!

The Orioles finally did something right: today, they released Sidney Ponson. After winning 17 games 2 years ago, he has slowly slid downhill. He's had weight problems (look's who's calling the kettle black!) , been arrested 3 times over the past year for drunk driving, got arrested for punching a judge out in his native Aruba, and generally had a bad attitude. If I was him, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting on anyone to sign me. Dude, get your head on straight, you have lots of potential!

Another Year Older!

Today's my birthday! I turned 34. Man, It seems like only yesterday, I was only a kid in school! Where have all the years gone? Oh well, time flies when you're having fun!!!
